This study aimed to identify scale function through the investigation of effect of scale removals by growing stages on growth and flowering in forcing of Lilium species, The growth, flowering, and enlargement of daughter bulb remarkably decreased by bulb scale removal at early growth stages. As scale were removed when sprouting length reached at 20 §¯ in ¢¥Gelria¢¥ and 10 §¯ in both of ¢¥Jolanda¢¥ and ¢¥Dream Land¢¥, respectively, the plants showed normal growth and development, but the growth of ¢¥Casablanca¢¥ was inhibited by the bulb scale removal until shoot length reached at 20 §¯.
